Last Friday's "Picture Of The Day" featured a touching photo of a
mare nursing her foal. Today's picture follows that
same theme, but what we
have here is a momma cat nursing her own kittens...plus three cuddly
puppies. Yes, that's a CAT nursing three baby DOGS! Allow me to explain...
A few days ago the
Washington County, Virginia C.C. Porter Animal Shelter took custody of a
large number of cats and dogs including three small puppies who somehow ended up
without their mom. Well, it just so happened that the shelter had a momma cat
with more than enough milk for her kittens so the puppies jumped right in and
started eating at the feline buffet. "Momma" didn't seem to mind, so now the
kittens have three new canine "siblings".
Like most animal shelters across the country, Washington County's almost always
has several beautiful and friendly dogs and cats available for adoption into
loving families. If you're planning to add a new pet to your family, why not
visit the shelter and adopt one instead of shelling out hundreds of dollars to a
pet store? By doing so, in addition to saving a considerable chunk of change,
you'll quite possibly also be saving a life!
