Eccup Reservoir

Today's picture is a breathtaking shot of the sun shining down onto the waters of Leeds,
England's Eccup
Reservoir. As you can tell, expert photographer Martin Henson certainly knows how to transform a pretty scene into one that's simply
spectacular!
While Eccup Reservoir is privately owned by Yorkshire Water, there are many ways
for the public to enjoy the area's beauty and tranquility including walking, biking, and bird watching.
The reservoir is a haven for many species of wildlife, especially ducks. But
perhaps Eccup's most popular inhabitants are the colorful and distinctive Red Kites,
large birds of prey which were just re-introduced to the area in 1999.
The Red Kite program was so successful that an observation point was created at
the eastern end of Eccup Reservoir to allow visitors to view the birds in the
wild, making the area one of the UK's most popular bird watching venues.
If you wish to visit beautiful Eccup Reservoir, you'll find it just off A61 Harrogate Road near Alwoodley
Gates. Public transportation is readily available from Leeds.
