A Meadowview, VA Hayfield At Sunrise

Today's picture features a hayfield in Meadowview, Virginia at
the start of what turned out to be yet another unseasonably hot day for
this time of year. I have always been an early riser, and I have
recently discovered that early morning is my favorite time of the
day for taking pictures.
Why? Well, everything always smells so fresh at sunrise! The cool night air breathes new life into the world,
especially now as
autumn has begun to take its toll on the plants and trees of
southwestern Virginia. I have a feeling that we might not have a
very pretty fall this year because many of the trees have already
started shedding their leaves - a few here, a few there, and before
I even noticed it several of the trees in my neighborhood have
already become half-bare. I guess we'll just have to wait and see
how the rest of them fare.
But even with the leaves making an early exit, I can always count on
everything looking and smelling a little fresher around
sunrise. Of course the sun soon begins to climb higher and higher
into the sky until the heat of the day finally overcomes the
freshness of the morning, making plants and humans alike
begin to wilt. But we can always look forward to "in the morning"
when crisp, cool air has once again regained the upper hand. Sometimes
it's good to get up at the crack of dawn.
