The Spanish language contractions are very easy to
learn because there are only two of them: al and del.
- The Spanish preposition a (to) combined
with the masculine singular article el becomes
al (a + el = al).
Examples:
Voy al mercado.
I'm going to the market.
Vamos al restaurante nuevo.
We're going to the new restaurant.
- The Spanish preposition de (from, about, of)
combined with the masculine singular article el becomes del (de + el = del).
Examples:
El hombre del hotel.
The man from the hotel.
Un libro del autos.
A book about cars.
