Tower Of The Americas
Today's picture features one of the most interesting structures in the world,
the magnificent Tower Of The Americas in San Antonio, TX. It was
completed in 1968 to serve as the theme structure for HemisFair - the
1968 World's Fair which was hosted by the great state of Texas.
At the time of it's completion, the 750 foot Tower Of The Americas was the
tallest man-made structure in the country, and even today there are just a
handful of buildings and towers that rise higher into the sky.
Visitors can climb aboard the tower's glass-walled elevators and ascend more
than 500 feet to the observation deck, and when they get there they will find a
spectacular panoramic view of one of America's most beautiful cities waiting for
them. After they enjoy the breathtaking views, they can sit down to a wonderful
meal in the soon-to-open Landry's Seafood Restaurant - which is located
at the top of the tower!
This beautiful picture of the Tower Of The Americas was taken by Bob Danielson.
Bob had the pleasure of witnessing the tower's construction back in the 1960s, and
even today it remains one of his favorite photographic subjects.
