Trey Hensley On The Pickin' Porch Show
Today's picture features a true
Bluegrass Music legend performing on the
Pickin' Porch stage.
Trey Hensley has been amazing audiences with his
mastery of the guitar for years, and that's quite a feat given the fact that
he's all of 15 years old! The term child prodigy is much overused today,
but if it has ever truly applied to any child it must surely be Trey!
Fine guitar pickers abound in the Tri-Cities, TN-VA region - after all,
Bristol
is the "Birthplace Of Country Music". But you'll be hard-pressed to find
a person of any age, anywhere on the planet that plays the instrument better
than Trey Hensley. Watching this young man perform for the first time is quite
literally an awesome experience. And oh, by the way...he sure can sing too!
Trey's amazing musical accomplishments are even more amazing when you consider
that he didn't even pick up a guitar until he was ten years old. But he sure has
come a long way since then. His tremendous talent has been recognized by many
giants in the music industry including Tom T. Hall, Marty Stuart and the one and
only Earl Scruggs. In fact, Marty was so impressed by Trey's mastery of the
guitar that he invited him to join him and Earl on stage during a performance at the
Grand Ole Opry.
A huge fan of The Carter Family, Trey and his band Drivin' Force perform
at the Carter Family Fold in
Hiltons, Virginia quite often. Trey had the time of
his life at "The Fold" one night when the legendary Johnny Cash and June Carter
Cash invited him to pick with them. How many teenagers can say they actually
shared a stage with "The Man In Black"?
Trey Hensley and Drivin' Force are much in demand, and they perform quite
a bit - working around Trey's school schedule of course. If you have never seen
this talented young man pick and sing, you really owe it to yourself to find out
where he'll be performing next and get yourself over there. The sky's the limit
for Trey Hensley, and after he graduates from Telford, Tennessee's David
Crockett High School in a few years it might not be so easy to see him perform
live.
