A Colorful Water Tower In Wytheville, VA
Today's picture features a colorful water tower in the small town of Wytheville,
Virginia. Painted to look like a hot air balloon, Wytheville's water tower
receives a lot of attention from passing motorists as they travel along
Interstate 81.
But Wytheville isn't alone in having a painted water tower. Many localities
across the United States have painted their towers and tanks as a way of
expressing their individuality or showcasing a local item of interest. An
excellent example is the nearby town of
Marion which has taken a
comical approach by marking their twin water storage tanks HOT and COLD.
So the next time you're traveling down America's highways, if you pay close
attention as you pass towns large and small you're sure to see some interesting
municipal art in the distance!
