Amy's "Pig Bench"
I'll just come right out and say it - our daughter Amy is a pig lover. Big
pigs, little pigs, colorful pigs, plain pigs...if it's a pig she loves it!
Amy has always been an animal lover, but her fascination with pigs
began when
she started working in the Swine Center as a student at Virginia Tech. She helped
care for the pigs, even going so far as sitting in the muck and milking them! It
was a dirty job but she had a ball doing it!
Her college career is long behind her now, but she still loves her porcine
friends. Her dining room wall holds a large poster that shows a pig jumping off of a
pier into the water, and her kitchen is a virtual pig museum with pigs of all
shapes and sizes lining the tops of the cabinets. You see pigs everywhere you
look...
Which brings us to today's picture. Cheria and I were looking around in a tool
store one day back in December when we spotted a cute garden bench with
sculptures of pigs at play on the back panel. We knew Amy would love to have it
in her back yard so we bought it for her as a Christmas present. The problem was
it wouldn't
fit in her car so she was unable to haul it back to her Wilmington, NC home.
Well, Cheria and I finally had an opportunity to pay her a visit this week, so
we loaded the bench into the back of our car and took off for Carolina. Now,
three months after Christmas, Amy
finally has her "pig bench" sitting in her back yard - and I think it makes a great
"Picture Of The Day"!
