Type: Perennial
Chrysanthemums (commonly called "mums") are one of the most popular flowers in the world. Gardens everywhere come alive each spring with their large, bright blossoms. These beautiful chrysanthemums are available in a wide variety of colors.
Mums grow well in most types of soil that has good drainage and is in a sunny location. An early August feeding of compost or fertilizer will help ensure that your mums are healthy and beautiful during the next season.
Water your chrysanthemums regularly during hot, dry weather. If the soil is sandy and/or doesn't retain moisture very well, you should apply a layer of mulch.
If you live in an area with extremely cold winters, protect your mums with 4 to 6 inches of mulch or hay. If your chrysanthemums come up before the last frost, cover them to keep them from getting frostbitten.
If you choose your location carefully and protect them from harsh cold weather conditions, your mums should provide enjoyment for years to come!
