Two Crocus Blossoms, Side-By-Side
Cheria and I were walking down our sidewalk a few days ago when she spotted a
bit of color peeking out from the leaves covering one of our flower beds.
Intrigued, she raked back the leaves and discovered a row of crocus blossoms
lining the sidewalk from end to end. The previous owners had apparently
planted a variety of colorful crocuses all around the place!
The crocus has always been one of my favorite flowers, and not just for its
beauty. To me, crocus blossoms represent the renewal that springtime brings to
the earth and everything on it. These hardy flowers are among the very first to
bloom each year, often braving snow, frost and freezing temperatures to serve as
a colorful reminder from God that the long, dreary winter will soon be over!
I took several pictures of the new-found crocuses lining our sidewalk, and I had
quite a difficult time trying to decide which ones to feature for the "Picture Of
The Day". There were small groups of purple crocuses, white ones with purple
stripes, and even a few orange crocuses scattered here and there.
I finally decided upon two of the flowers that happened to be standing
side-by-side in the flowerbed. I see this happy pair as a symbol of the way
Cheria and I plan to spend the rest of our days in the home God has provided for
us...side-by-side and hand-in-hand. Thanks to Cheria, I am now enjoying the
springtime of my life...my longest winter has come to an end.
