I admit it. I used to be a perfectionist when it came to grilling. In my mind, there was simply no substitute for hamburgers, hot dogs and steaks that had been grilled over a genuine charcoal flame.
Well, that all changed one day when I attended a picnic hosted by our church. The meats the cooks grilled on their gas grills were nothing short of amazing! I was surprised to discover how tasty and juicy everything was, and of course I just HAD to go back for “seconds” to confirm it.
That experience got me to thinking about replacing my aging charcoal grill with a new gas model. A little research opened my eyes to the advantages of gas grills:
1 -Gas grills are easier to light and they burn more evenly than their charcoal counterparts. Gone are the days of dealing with nasty charcoal and stinky, dangerous lighter fluid.
2 – The heating is virtually instant. Just like on a gas range, once you turn the starter knob and ignite the flame, you have heat.
3 – Loading fuel into a gas grill is a snap. Simply unhook the empty propane container and hook up a full one.
4 – Clean-up is a breeze. With a gas grill there are no more ashes to empty or soot to wipe off of everything within 25 yards.
5 – The food tastes just as good as anything that comes off of a charcoal grill. Trust me on this one because I was a skeptic too!
Now that spring is just around the corner you can expect to see all kind of sales on gas grills at your local retailers and on the Internet. Why not buy a gas grill of your own and start really enjoying your cook-outs?
