Although nothing will ever beat a good old SLR camera, there are some great apps available which make the novelty and practically of having a camera now always within a few inches of you – on your iPhone.
8mm Vintage Camera by Nexvio Inc.
This app, which has been very recently updated, allows the user to capture vintage 8mm videos to bring a touch of retro glamour to your videos.
The app is really easy to use and navigate around, and you can recreate vintage scenes with the tap of the screen. You can choose between various lenses and films in a total of 56 different colorways for a real choice.
The lenses consist of seven different styles, whilst you have the option of 8 film type, including dusted and aged looks.
You can even add sounds to imitate the old-style sound of vintage 8mm projector films and replicate their random jumping movement with the jitter button.
The 8mm Vintage Camera app is available in the App Store for a small fee.
Paper Camera by JDFP Labs
This is a really great application to have in your app library, which gives you the ability to shoot video and capture images using your iPhone or iPad’s camera which appear in a painted cartoon format.
There are around eight different filters to select, and the effect is instant: meaning as you’re looking through the lens in real-time, the image or video is being captured in the chosen carton format. No waiting for developing time with this app!
The effect this app gives your photos is really impressive, and I found myself walking round my house looking for new objects to capture in both video and still image.
What’s more, this app directly saves the images and videos you take to your Camera library on your iPhone or iPad. This is a great feature, as so often apps save photos into a different folder which can only be found on the app. By having the photos and videos saved into your camera library, your photos are easy to locate for a no-fuss solution for great photos.
This app definitely creates some interesting photos, and it’s fun and easy to use. The whole interface is presented in a sketched, cartoon-style format which is attractive and fun to use.
The Paper Camera app is also available in the App Store and it is well worth the tiny investment.
