The 20th century and now into the 21st century have been the most exciting in terms of advancements in medicine, living standards, world trade, politics and of course technology. In all actuality the past 15 years have seen some of the most growth in terms of information sharing, and platforms on which that information is delivered.

If you have a laptop, your hard drive may eventually go bad. Even if the rest of the computer has no problems, without a working hard drive, you have no way to use your computer. Despite the number of great laptop deals, it is usually less expensive to replace or upgrade your hard drive rather than purchasing a new computer. If you have a hard drive that is failing, or simply want to put in a hard drive with more storage space, there are a few ways of doing so.

Before you do anything, you’ll want to find out what replacement hard drives are available for your laptop. The two most common hard drives are SATA drives and solid state drives. SATA drives are more common and usually offer more disk space. Solid state hard drives are newer and more expensive but operate faster than SATA drives. SATA drives will work in almost any laptop; solid state drives are newer, so they do not work in all laptops. However, laptops that are more than two or three years old may require an IDE hard drive. Many current or future IT people decide to take the plunge and enter the computer networking field. However, this is a very difficult industry to start out in and you have to gain experience before you will be considered for a higher level position.

The first step can be difficult as most companies do not want to let someone that doesn’t already have experience learn using their production networks. These days companies count on their networks too much to risk downtime while a new employee gets up to speed.

In addition to understanding how computer networks and equipment work, you also have to understand how IT in general works. Oftentimes we don’t proofread our own work and leave it in the hands of our program’s spell checker. But is this the best thing to do?

Are spell checkers so accurate that we should trust them completely?

The answer is an astounding no!

The great debate between Android and iPhone rages on. Everyone has the things that they like and the things that they are looking for in a smart phone, but when it comes to features, Android tends to take the cake. There are so many different things that you can do with these phones because they are much less confined and restricted than the iPhone OS.

Here are just 9 things that you can do with Android that you’ll never do with an iPhone:

1 – Alternating keyboard options. When you have an iPhone, you’re limited to the standard keyboard unless you download apps and import text, which can be a pain to deal with. Android gives you a variety of keyboard options, onboard and ready to go.

2 – Automation. The Android system lets you use Tasker to turn your phone into the super phone that you need, including settings for applications and plenty of variables to choose from.

3 – Custom home menus. If you “jailbreak” an iPhone, you can customize your home screen a little more than usual. If you have Android, you can customize all you want right out of the box.
