The country style of decor is very popular in many homes and it is easy to see why. A home that has been decorated with country style in mind will always feel home, warm and inviting – qualities that every homeowner desires for their home.
Moreover, country style homes are easy to care for and it is relatively cheap to create the look. Here are a couple of tips on how to do so:
1 – Embrace fresh pastel colors and floral prints
To create a country feel within a home it is important to avoid bright and loud colors. Instead fresh, pastel colors will look better within the home as well as many different floral prints. Be careful not to go overboard though – no house looks good when it has too many floral prints.
One way in which to subtly introduce pale colors and floral prints into the home is to invest in some cheap roman blinds that have a beautiful floral print. These days it is easy to find roman blinds made to measure for a very reasonable price. These not only look great within the home but they can add a touch of color and style as well. By using fresh colors and floral prints on blinds throughout the house then the atmosphere of the home will feel very country styled and the home will have a continuous flow as opposed to being disjointed.
2 – Introduce a lot of natural materials into the home
Another way in which to give a home more of a country feel is through the use of natural wood throughout the house. This can be in the form of wooden furnishings such as sideboards and cupboards and even natural wooden floors. Wooden doors around the home will also make the home look great. Natural materials within the home give the atmosphere of the home a natural feel and almost serve to bring nature inside of the home.
Terracotta and stone floors are also very common aspects of country style homes although rugs may be used to keep cold stone floors looking and feeling cozier. Again, any rugs that are used around the home should be traditional rugs that are not modern or have brightly colored patterns.
The use of a lot of patchwork furnishings around the home too is a common feature of country style. For instance it may be possible to purchase cheap roman blinds and then design or create a patchwork blind cover at home to add a more homely touch.
One of the best ways to add character and warmth to a home is to invest in an open fireplace or a wood burning stove. This option is not available to every household however as such appliances can be expensive. The use of an AGA within the kitchen too immediately adds a homely and country feel to a house but again these can cost a lot of money and take a lot of effort to install.
By following a few simple tips and incorporating some simple colors and patterns into the decor of each room and home can be made to feel country style, warm and homely.
