Are you looking for carpenter bees treatment? While carpenter bees are not quite as destructive as termites, keeping them out of your home and wood is still a bit of a challenge. Getting rid of these wood-destroying insects may seem difficult, but there are a few simple tips that can help you eliminate these pests from your home for good.
Before you begin, you should know that carpenter bees, unlike termites, do not actually eat wood. They simply remove it in order to build nests. That means if they have gotten into your house, they are feeding on something else – most likely from your kitchen! Carpenter bees eat many of the same things we do, including sugars, syrups, protein, starches, and other sweets. Keep your food in airtight containers to keep these bugs out of your home and away from a food source.
If carpenter bees have infested your home, you can use a bait containing pesticide to eradicate the entire colony. Because bees take food back to their colony to share, some simple bait can not only kill a few, but an entire colony of bees.
Avoid moisture. Like termites, carpenter bees like cool, moist, dark crevices. You are likely to find them nesting in the cracks and crevices around your kitchen sink, dishwasher, leaky pipes, and wet floorboards and corners. To prevent getting them in the first place, be careful to treat leaks and moisture build-ups before bees become a problem. If they have already gotten into your house, be sure to treat these areas specifically with pesticide. Use pesticide in the areas of your home that have the most moisture, being sure to reach small crawl spaces and crevices.
How do you know if you have a carpenter bee problem? You may not realize your have carpenter bees. Look for signs such as fresh piles of sawdust that will tip you off to your problem. Carpenter bees, unlike termites, are much more likely to be seen in the open, so keep your eyes out for a trail of these little bees. There size and color are variable, so don’t depend on that to identify the type of bees you have.
You may not think that carpenter bees are a big problem, but left untreated over a period of time, they are capable of causing serious structural damage. As they remove the wood from your home and create small tunnels for nesting, they are slowly chipping away at the structural foundation of your home. Be careful to find and treat them early to avoid serious damage to your home.
