There was time, not too long ago, when people around the world used only organic products. This was simply because there were no non-organic products available. However, as time went by and the industrial age hit, a plethora of man-made products hit the market.
One big market where artificial products made their mark was the cosmetic industry in general, and hair care products in particular. This is still the case even to this day, and hair care products alone account for the lion’s share of the multi-billion dollar cosmetics industry.
However, starting a few decades ago, people began questioning what exactly is contained in these artificial products. Many people did not like the answers and thus was born the organic revolution. Oils – especially essential oils – are widely used for organic hair care. The following are some of the most popular oils and essential oils used for improving hair and scalp health:
Rosemary Oil is one of the most popular essential oils used for organic hair care. The reason why rosemary oil is so effective is because it helps to stimulate hair follicles, strengthening the hair and encouraging it to grow longer. Rosemary oil is also highly effective for scalp health and getting rid of dandruff. After all, scalp or skin health is closely related to hair health.
Coconut Oil has been used in parts of South East Asia for hair care for centuries. The good thing about coconut oil is its sheer convenience since it can be bought in its pure form in a bottle. However, if the temperature is cooler than 65 degrees Fahrenheit, it will thicken. All that is required is to heat it up a little to turn it back to liquid form. Once this is done, a table spoon of oil should be applied to the hair and scalp and massaged in. After leaving it on the hair for approximately 30 minutes, wash it out using organic shampoo. The hair will have an amazing shine to it, and it will also strengthen the follicles.
The next amazing oil is Tea Tree Oil. A lot of people know that tea tree oil is being used for just about every ailment known to humankind. Therefore, it is not surprising that it is used for hair-related issues as well.
Tea tree oil has just about everything going for it. It is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, balsamic, anti-viral fungicide and a natural insecticide, to name just a few. That’s why this amazing natural material is used in just about every organic hair product known to mankind. However, in diluted form it can be used on its own as well. It will give the scalp a deep rinse and kill off any microbes or other impurities living in the scalp or hair. In fact, tea tree oil is an effective remedy against scalp dandruff and scalp psoriasis.
The next two oils to make it onto this list are Basil and Lavender Oils. Basil helps with blood circulation in the scalp area, which promotes hair growth. Lavender oil has amazing soothing qualities which help repair damaged follicles and skin.
