As a website owner you are more than likely aware that having links pointing to your website is very important for good search engine rankings. This is all very well but how do you increase the number of sites that link to yours in a natural way? Here are three great tips for doing just that:
1 – Make Use Of Your Business Contacts
Most of us have a network of business professionals that we relate to on a regular basis. Maybe these are our clients, suppliers or even our friends who have business.
If you offer a service or product that these people really believe in then it is likely that they won’t mind publicizing it for you by linking to your site from their own. The more relevant their website is to your own site, the more valuable the link will be to you.
For example, if you sell hand-woven rugs and your supplier, a home improvement store, links to you then that will be quite powerful as the link will be relevant. If you got a link from a miscellaneous friend who runs an organic food website, while it will be of some value, it will not be worth quite as much.
2 – Create Something Worth Sharing
One of the easiest ways to pick up links is to create something that other people want. Infographics are huge at the moment and work well for people in all sorts of niches. An infographic is an image that conveys information and statistics. If you can create an infographic that appeals to the people in your industry then you can allow your industry peers to share it or embed it on their own sites as long as they give credit back to you in the form of a link. You could also do this in the form of an article, survey, video or photo album. Make the most of your industry experience and quality content!
3 – Guest Blogging
Guest blogging is a fantastic way to gain exposure and some great links back to your website. The main reason why guest blogging works so well is because you have to supply high quality information in order to be successful. It is a process whereby you approach a blog owner and offer to write an article for them.
A guest article must enrich and add value to host blog. Usually you will write about an experience you have had or knowledge you have gained in your industry. If you were a rug maker, as in my example earlier, you could write about the history rug making, the latest weaving technique or the latest trends in rug design. In return the blog owner will usually allow you a link back to your website to credit you for the article. For a small investment of time this method of link building can be very rewarding.
