The beautiful city of Nashville, Tennessee is a magnet for countless
musicians and singers who dream of making it big in the music business. The
sidewalks of "Music City" are filled with starry-eyed dreamers knocking on
doors, all hoping for a shot at being the next overnight wonder.
But overnight wonders are very rare in the Country Music business. The
majority of the performers who actually end up making it spend several years
working at a "real job" while singing in every bar and nightclub that will have
them. And they are the lucky few because most of the dreamers end up making a living
at something else.
Yes, Nashville is a tough city where reality hits you in the face just as soon
as you hit the streets and begin knocking on doors. But Nashville is also a city
of enduring hope, where the optimism required for chasing this special dream can
last for years. For some it will never fade - they'll continue playing the
honky-tonks and backstreet bars into their retirement years. Why? Because
they're performers, and they love being in front of a crowd even if they never
get that big break and become household names.
For the lucky few who do make it, a life of luxury and excitement is theirs for
the taking. Pounding the pavement in Nashville is a tough job, but it does offer
the promise of fame and fortune for the ones who have the talent, ambition and
perseverance to last long enough to attain it. And every once in a while that
promise is kept...
