Costa Rica's Poás Volcano National Park
Costa Rica is a stunningly beautiful country offering tons of amazing vistas for
vacationers, including pristine beaches, lush jungles, peculiar wildlife,
interesting rock formations and active volcanoes. Today's picture features a
photo of a picturesque lake near Poás Volcano. It was taken by Amy
and Gene on a recent Costa Rica vacation.
Only about an hour north of San José, Poás Volcano National Park is one of Costa Rica's most popular tourist attractions. You can hike through amazing jungle scenery, then
enjoy some great views of the Poás Volcano landscape.
The park offers four distinct habitats in a relatively small area:
- land with hardly any vegetation at all
- a cloud forest
- a stunted forest
- an area of arrayans
The incredible biodiversity of the park is evidenced by a wide variety of plants and wildlife including 79 species of birds!
Costa Rica is a great vacation choice for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. If geology interests you (or if you simply enjoy spectacular scenery), visit Costa Rica and Poás Volcano National Park for the adventure of a lifetime!
