Price Lake On The Blue Ridge Parkway
The Blue Ridge Parkway
is 469 miles of spectacular Blue Ridge Mountain scenery. All along the Parkway
there are numerous scenic overlooks and several beautiful lakes that you can
visit. One of these magnificent lakes is beautiful Price Lake located in
Julian Price Memorial Park.
Price Lake is a true mountain lake and the cool mountain air makes hiking, boating
and fishing here an absolute joy in the summertime. And talk about a view! I
took this picture while standing in the parking lot near the dam (which also
serves as a bridge for the Blue Ridge Parkway). If you look at the horizon in
the upper right-hand corner you'll see mountains almost completely
enshrouded in fog!
Along with historic Mabry Mill
and many other popular attractions along the Parkway - not to mention the
spectacular mountain views - Price Lake and Julian Price Park make driving the
Blue Ridge Parkway a special treat for visitors to the Appalachian region of
North Carolina and Virginia.
To get to Price Lake, simply get on the Blue Ridge Parkway at any point and head
for mile post 297. You're sure to see some absolutely stunning mountain vistas
and plenty of wildlife along the way, so be sure to bring a camera!
