Ingredients:
Servings: Serves 6 people
1/2 garlic clove, mashed
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon mace
1 TBS corn starch
1 cup water
1 pound hamburger meat
2 unbaked pie crust
For the Cranberry Relish:
Cranberries, chopped
Oranges, chopped
Sugar
For the rich meat crust:
2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup shortening
3 - 4 TBS water

Directions:
Mix spices, cornstarch, and water in a sauce pan.
Add the meat and heat until it's boiling.
Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes.
Pour the mixture into an unbaked pie crust, then cover with the second crust.
Cut in steam vents.
Bake for 30 minutes at 425 degrees F.
VARIATION
You can use sausage, a mixture of sausage and hamburger meat, or shredded roast beef or pork.
CRANBERRY RELISH
Mix the cranberries and oranges.
Add sugar to taste.
The relish should be tart.
RICH MEAT CRUST
In a medium bowl, cut shortening into flour with a pastry blender until the mixture looks like course cornmeal.
Sprinkle with water (a few drops at a time), and mix with a fork until all the dry ingredients are moistened.
Make into a ball and chill for 20 minutes before rolling out.
