Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1/2 oz oil or butter
1 tsp flour
pinch of thyme
stock or water
1/2 tsp salt
black pepper
mashed potatoes |
Directions:
Heat the oil or butter until hot and cook the chopped onion in it until it is translucent.
Add the meat and cook until it changes color.
Blend in the flour, then stir in enough stock or water to moisten the meat.
Season to taste.
Cook over a low heat until it's tasty.
Place meat in a greased oven dish and cover with well-mashed potatoes (with a bit of milk and butter).
Brown in the oven at 400° F for 20-30 minutes.
You might need to heat it under the grill to get the potatoes nice and brown.
Serve with simple vegetables, such as carrots or peas, and a tasty peppery gravy.
Note: For this recipe, you can substitute leftover pork, beef, chicken, or turkey in place of the
ground beef.
