Trestle On The Virginia Creeper Trail

Trestle on the Virginia Creeper trail

The Virginia Creeper Trail is a scenic, very popular hiking and biking trail that follows the former Virginia Creeper railroad bed from Abingdon, Va to Whitetop Station. Since the Creeper trail crosses quite a few rivers and streams, there are several old trestles in various locations along the length of the trail.

The trestle featured in today's photo is located near the town park in beautiful Damascus, Va. The town of Damascus lies roughly half-way up the trail from either end.

The Virginia Creeper trail is one of the most popular trails in the southeastern United States because it is easily traversed and the views in several locations are absolutely stunning! If you're ever in the Abingdon, Va area, you owe it to yourself to check out the Virginia Creeper trail.
