If you are an employer using home workers, your biggest problem is most
likely determining how best to pay them.
Many people working from home feel that they should be compensated on their level of effort in the form of a flat hourly fee. But the temptations of working from home are often overwhelming. The urge to watch TV, play video games, or catch up on chores is always beckoning.
An employer certainly doesn’t want to pay a freelancer to play videogames all
day! And, without being there, trying to calculate how many hours you really worked is impossible.
This dilemma often creates an impasse.
The most effective and fairest solution is simply to pay the home worker on a commission only basis.
This is why most legitimate home based work programs involve some sort of sales. This is also how MLM companies are able to charge fees for start-up kits, etc. They
understand that people want to work from home so badly that they will often pay for chance to earn the money.
Working from home is challenging, even when you are really working! If you're not a self-driven and highly motivated person you're just wasting your time. You
would be a lot better off arranging for daycare and going back to a traditional
job.
Selling is a tough profession. After spending our early years trying to teach people how to
sell, we finally gave up and found a much better use of our time, and theirs, and then our business really started to grow.
I digress…
If you really want to work from home be prepared to learn how to sell. There are
numerous publications and videos that teach the basics. The world is your oyster when you know how to sell!
Once you learn how to sell working from home can be fun! Why? Because you can go to virtually any business in your neighborhood and tell them you are a commission sales
representative (someone who gets paid after the sale is made). Almost any business will give you a chance.
You might work with two non-competitive companies like a printer and a carpet company. These are good businesses with high
profit margins.
Try to for companies that will pay you at least $50.00 - $100.00 per sale. This makes it
very easy to calculate how much you will earn. You can set your own hours and even fire the client if things don’t work out.
The bottom line: If you want to work from home, be your own boss, and pay no fees, learn how to sell!
