Kentucky Rain On The Pickin' Porch Show
Today's picture features
Kentucky Rain, a fine
Bluegrass music band from
Harlan, Kentucky. These very talented young singers and musicians treated the
audience at this week's
Pickin' Porch Show to plenty of fast-paced instrumental work and
finely-tuned harmonies on several old Bluegrass and Country music favorites
including the A.P. Carter classic "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" and the
legendary Johnny Cash's smash hit "Folsom Prison Blues". Everyone had a
great time listening to some great live music!
It's hard to believe that so much rich sound can come from just a guitar, a
banjo and a standup bass, but these guys really know how to pick...and their
singing isn't bad either! Cheria and I had the opportunity to see them a couple
of times last summer at the
Tuesday night Bluegrass concerts under the Country
Music mural on State Street, so we were thrilled to see them take the stage at
the Pickin' Porch on Thursday night.
Kentucky Rain is yet another prime example of the huge number of excellent young
Bluegrass groups that are helping keep this wonderful music alive and growing in
our region. If you love Bluegrass and Old-Time music, we invite you to come out
to the Pickin' Porch, the
Carter Fold, or anywhere else that live music is
performed. You're sure to have a great time and the bands will be very happy to see
you!
