The friendly folks in Marion, Va sure have a great sense of humor.
Of course most every house nowadays has hot and cold running water, but hot
water supplied by the town? Now that's a novelty indeed!
Humor aside, Marion really is a very nice little town reminiscent of a Norman
Rockwell creation. The county seat of rural Smyth County, Marion is full of
wonderful people, beautiful scenery and tons of outdoor activities.
For example, nearby Hungry Mother State Park features a picturesque lake
suitable for boating, fishing and swimming that is ringed by forested hills and mountains
as well as hundreds of miles of rugged hiking trails.
The other end of town is home to the state trout hatchery where you can see the
fish in various stages of growth, all the way from newly hatched to full-grown.
You can even feed them... thousands of them! And if you love the mountains,
Virginia's two highest peaks (Mount Rogers and Whitetop) are just a short drive
away!
If you're looking for a peaceful vacation with lots of outdoor activities,
friendly people and gorgeous mountain views, Marion, Va is just the place you're
looking for. And of course you're sure to have plenty of hot water during your
visit!
