For the better part of a year I have been working hard at turning our field, the
perimeter of which was overgrown with weeds and brush, into something that resembles a park.
Slowly, but surely, it's getting there!
I started off by clearing out the old fence row that paralleled the road, then
burning the six huge brush
piles that were left over from the task. Next, I began cutting the brush and
trimming the trees along the creek bank on the other side of the field and
hauling the brush and
tree limbs to a new pile in the center of it. To quote the great Yogi Berra, it
was déjà vu all over again!
After working along the creek bank for a couple of days, I decided to take a
break from that task and clear out a small island of weeds and thick brush that
sat out in the middle of the field, spoiling the view. After I had removed all
the weeds and brush, I was left with several large and very pretty rocks - and
one tree stump in an advanced state of decay! At first I wanted to take out the stump, but after
consulting with Cheria we decided to leave it and place a birdhouse on it...and
the
result is the "Picture Of The Day"!
