Rachel Johnson On The Pickin' Porch Show
Fans of Bluegrass music in the
Bristol, VA-TN area are very familiar with the
ultra-talented young lady featured in today's picture.
Rachel Johnson has
been thrilling audiences in our region and around the world for years now with
her amazing fiddle work.
The audience at last night's
Pickin' Porch Show received a special treat when
Rachel took to the stage on two occasions. First, she helped out the fine
Bluegrass-Gospel group Crosstrain on their final number, the wonderful old hymn
"I'll Fly Away", and then she joined Pickin' Porch favorite
Robby Spencer
for an extended set that lasted for most of the second half of the show!
Rachel is one of the most accomplished fiddle players in the world today, and
you can tell she really loves performing. She stays very busy traveling and
performing with The Boohers while attending East Tennessee State University full
time, but she still loves to grab her fiddle and bow and join in on a jam
session every time she gets a chance.
We don't get to see Rachel sawing on her fiddle as much as we would like after
the Tuesday night Bluegrass performances on
State Street shut down for the
winter, so her appearance on last night's Pickin' Porch was a real treat!
